Wrong Coin, Network or Address

What happens if you send crypto on the wrong network, with the wrong coin, or to the wrong address.

Wrong Coin, Network or Address

Crypto payments cannot be reversed. This page explains what that means if something is sent incorrectly.

The three mistakes

  • Wrong network. You selected one network at checkout but sent on another.
  • Wrong coin. You sent a different coin from the one you selected.
  • Wrong address. You sent to an address that is not the one shown on your payment page, or to an old one.

What happens next

Once a transaction is sent, no one can recall it, not you and not us. Funds sent to the wrong network, coin or address may not reach us at all, and may not be recoverable by anyone.

For that reason:

  • We are not responsible for funds sent incorrectly.
  • We are not able to refund them, because crypto payments are final.
  • We are not obliged to recover them, and recovery is often not possible.

You can still contact support. If the funds did reach us in a way we can identify, we will tell you what we can do, but we cannot promise a recovery. See Contact billing support.

How to avoid it

  1. Read the coin, network and address on your payment page before you send.
  2. Make sure your wallet or exchange is sending on the same network you selected.
  3. Copy the address instead of typing it, and compare the first and last characters.
  4. For a large payment, send a very small test amount first, if your wallet allows it.
  5. Never reuse an address from an earlier payment.
