Card Payment Failed

What to do if a card payment or renewal is declined.

Card Payment Failed

A card payment can fail at checkout or when your plan renews. It is usually quick to fix.

Common reasons

  • Not enough available funds or credit
  • The card has expired or been replaced
  • Your bank blocked the payment as unusual, or needs you to approve it
  • The billing details do not match what your bank has on file
  • The card does not allow online or international payments

What to try

  1. Check the card details and the billing address you entered.
  2. Make sure the card has enough available balance or credit.
  3. Look for a message from your bank. Many banks ask you to approve the payment in their app.
  4. Try again, or try a different card.
  5. If you use a different currency, ask your bank whether international payments are allowed.

If a renewal fails

If your card is declined when your plan renews, please update your card as soon as you can and make sure there is enough balance. We may suspend access for non-payment after reasonable notice, so it is best not to wait.

If you were charged but do not have access

Sometimes a bank shows a pending charge for a payment that did not go through. If you can see a completed charge but your plan is not active, contact support with the date, the amount and the last four digits of the card. Never send a full card number. See Contact billing support.
