Background Tasks

Some jobs take a while, a full port scan, a directory fuzzer, a listener waiting for a callback. The XHack Agent runs these in the background so you are never stuck waiting. Each one gets its own live terminal tab, and you keep chatting the whole time. No command line of your own required. You just ask.

Start a background task

1. Above the input box, click Select Folder to set the working folder if you have not already.

2. Click into the chat input box and ask for the long-running job in plain English. For example:

   "Run a full port scan on 10.0.0.5 in the background, then ffuf the web root for hidden directories while it runs."

3. Press Enter. When the Agent kicks off a long command, a ▸ Terminal dock appears at the bottom of the window.

Watch it stream live

• The ▸ Terminal dock holds one tab per command.
• Each tab streams the command's output line by line as it happens.
• A status badge on the tab shows whether it is still running or has finished.
• Every tab has its own cancel button to stop just that command.

Click between tabs to follow several jobs at once.

Keep working while they run

You do not have to babysit a background task. While it streams, you can:

• Keep chatting with the Agent in the center chat area.
• Start more background commands. Each one opens its own tab in the dock.
• Cancel any single job with its per-tab cancel button, without touching the others.

When a task finishes, its badge updates and the Agent reads the output so it can act on the results in your chat.
