Installation

Install the XHack desktop Agent in a few clicks — download, run the installer, sign in. It's a normal desktop app, no command line required.

Installing the XHack Agent

The web platform (app.xhack.io) needs nothing installed — just a browser. This page is about the desktop Agent: the application that runs autonomous pentests on your machine.

It's a standard graphical desktop app. No terminal, no commands — download, install, sign in.

Step 1 — Download

Go to the install page and download the build for your operating system:

  • Windows — the installer (.exe)
  • macOS — the disk image (.dmg)
  • Linux — the AppImage / package

Step 2 — Install

  • Windows — run the downloaded installer and follow the prompts, then launch XHack Agent from the Start menu.
  • macOS — open the .dmg and drag XHack Agent into Applications, then open it.
  • Linux — make the AppImage executable (right-click → Properties → allow executing), or install the package, then launch it.

Step 3 — Sign in

Open the Agent and sign in with the same XHack account you use on the web. That links the Agent to your workspace, plan, and settings — nothing else to configure.

Step 4 — Run it

  1. Point the Agent at an authorized target and describe your goal.
  2. It plans, runs recon, tests, and writes up findings — live on screen.
  3. Review the results, steer it with a message any time, or let it run to completion.

That's the whole setup. Everything the Agent does is graphical; you never touch a command line.

Choosing the AI behind the Agent

  • Built-in model — works out of the box, nothing to set.
  • Your own key (BYOK) — connect a provider key in the web app under Settings → AI Models and the Agent will use it. See Bring Your Own Key.
  • Local Ollama — for offline, air-gapped work, pick a local model in the Agent's settings. See Local AI with Ollama.
