Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
Connect your own AI provider key so your chats and the Agent run on the model you choose — while staying inside XHack's engine. A step-by-step guide.
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
XHack runs on a built-in, security-tuned model with nothing to configure. BYOK lets you swap in your own AI provider instead — your key, your model, your billing — while keeping XHack's instructions, guardrails, and tools around it.
Providers you can connect
OpenAI · Anthropic Claude · Google Gemini · Zhipu GLM · Mistral · xAI Grok · and OpenRouter (one key, hundreds of models).
Connect a key (three clicks)
- In the web app, open Settings → AI Models.
- Choose a provider and paste your API key. XHack validates it against the provider, then encrypts it — the key is never shown again, only masked.
- Pick your default model and switch it on.
From that moment your Chat and your Agent both run on your key. Turn it off to fall straight back to the built-in model.
Pick the right model
Use the model dropdown to match the model to the task — a stronger model for exploit development, a faster one for quick questions. Switching mid-session keeps your context; you don't lose your conversation or the Agent's progress.
Stack keys for reliability
Add more than one key and order them by priority. If your first provider is rate-limited or down, XHack automatically falls through to the next — so a provider hiccup never stops your work.
Good to know
- Your bill — BYOK requests are billed by your provider, on your terms.
- Encrypted & private — keys are stored encrypted and scoped to your account.
- Plan-gated — BYOK is available on eligible plans (see pricing).
