During a commissioned VAPT for a mid-sized e-commerce platform, XHack discovered that the client's AI-powered shopping assistant could be manipulated through a chained sequence of indirect prompt injection, context-window flooding, and developer impersonation to fully expose its internal system prompt and bypass strictly enforced coupon generation controls tied to a live database.

OutcomeFull system prompt extraction, coupon generation restriction bypass (15% on 4 SKUs escalated to 100% discount on any product in the catalogue), and live database write access confirmed via AI function calling. All findings disclosed and remediated.

Poisoned Knowledge: Indirect Prompt Injection via RAG in a B2B SaaS Support Assistant

A mid-sized B2B SaaS provider engaged XHack to assess their customer-facing AI support assistant. The assessment uncovered an indirect prompt injection attack path in which a single carefully crafted support ticket could poison the RAG knowledge store, redirect future users to attacker-controlled URLs, and leak portions of the assistant's internal system prompt.

When the Agent Reads Its Own Tools: MCP Tool-Description Injection at a Marketing Agency

A small digital marketing agency engaged XHack to review their newly built internal AI assistant, which used the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to coordinate between Slack, a CRM, and an analytics service. XHack discovered that one of the third-party MCP servers carried a prompt injection payload inside its tool descriptions, capable of silently turning the assistant into a data exfiltration vehicle every time a writer asked it for a campaign idea.

OutcomeTool-description injection vector identified before any client data left the environment. Third-party MCP servers pinned to vetted versions, sandboxed, and routed through a tool-description sanitiser. Internal allowlist of permitted tool calls introduced.
